Standing Seam

What is Standing Seam?

**DISCLAIMER:** Standing seam panels are available through special order only. Please note that oil canning may occur; this is a natural characteristic of the panel and is not considered a defect.

Standing seam metal roofing is a specialized type of concealed fastener roof style, available in two profiles: mechanical and snaplock. This design features panels that interlock using a clamping or snapping system, providing a weather-tight seal. While the panels are secured to the plywood or wood purlins with screws, these fasteners are hidden by the overlapping panels, ensuring a sleek and uninterrupted surface.

Mechanical standing seam panels are typically seamed together using a mechanical seamer, which bends the edges of the panels to create a strong and durable bond. Snaplock standing seam panels, on the other hand, are designed to snap together easily, providing a secure fit without the need for additional tools.

This concealed fastening system not only enhances the roof’s appearance by eliminating visible screws but also improves its performance by offering superior protection against the elements. Standing seam metal roofing is renowned for its durability, longevity, and modern aesthetic, making it a popular choice for various architectural styles and climates.

Roofing Applications

Standing seam panels can give your home an amazing modern look coupled with spectacular durability. A standing seam metal roof is the ideal system for anyone looking for a more low maintenance look. The biggest draw for this product is the hidden fastener. This feature provides peace of mind for many years as you do not need to worry about washers eroding away from weather allowing for less maintenance through the years.

Standing seam often requires a minimum slope of 14 degrees. A standing seam roof is a type of metal roofing where continuous inter-chained panels run from the ridge of the roof all the way down to the eaves. The upturned edge of one panel that connects it to neighboring panels creates very notable vertical lines and a sharp, modern look. A good majority of residential standing seam roofs are designed as watershed systems, often requiring a minimum roof slope of 14 degrees or more.

*Standing seam panels are available for special order only, as we do not stock them regularly. Please note that oil canning may occur; this is a natural characteristic of the panel and is not considered a defect or valid reason for rejection.
